Preservation Maryland recently unveiled its 2023 Best of Maryland award recipients, spotlighting those dedicated to protecting Maryland's heritage. Among the notable winners:
- Kent Conservation and Preservation Alliance earned the Smart Growth Excellence Award for their documentary showcasing Kent County's cultural landscape.
- Lewis Contractors received the Stewardship Award for their transformative work on the Nature Education Center at Cylburn Arboretum.
- Brunswick Mayor Nathan Brown was named Preservation Champion for his leadership in establishing Maryland's first conservation district in Brunswick.
- The Phoenix Award went to The Peale Center for Baltimore History and Architecture, acknowledging their role in revitalizing Baltimore's historical and cultural narratives.
A special mention for The Durable Restoration Company as they were key contributors in the Artisan Award given for the restoration of the State House Dome.
