The Multi Recreational Facility Renovation project at Wittenberg University in Springfield, Ohio is a multimillion-dollar campus improvement project that includes construction of a new indoor practice facility, renovation of the 1982 athletic building, and renovation of the historical 1929 athletic building. Danis Building Construction Company, a major construction management company, selected Durable Slate to complete the historical roof work.
The total scope of work recently completed, after nearly a year onsite, includes removal and reinstallation of the existing 1929 historical building’s slate roof, installing new underlayment, and new copper flashings. In addition to the installation of a new underlayment and replacing damaged slate, Durable Slate craftsmen fabricated and installed copper pieces on various flashings, aprons, selective gutters, downspouts and several eyebrow dormers for the 1929 building.
Established in 1845, Wittenberg University has a rich history and is often recognized as one of America’s most beautiful college campuses. The college wanted to maintain the historic integrity of the slate roof, which is why Durable Slate was brought in. Our expertise in maintaining the original design and character of historic roofs is a hallmark of our craftsmanship.
