For this beautiful Georgian home, The Durable Slate Company first completed a thorough roof inspection. We discovered that the current slate roof was not installed using correct technique. For example, numerous slates were installed without the correct head-lap and side lap, installed backwards, improperly sawn, or installed with excess (or inadequate) copper nails. To address this, the existing Virginia Buckingham slate roof was fully removed and re-installed using proper slate installation technique. In addition to this, new copper valleys, chimney flashings, and counter flashings were installed to resolve shortcomings with the copper work.
