Trinity Episcopal Church in Covington, Kentucky is a historic and architecturally significant building located in the heart of the city's downtown area. Founded in 1843, the church has been a central part of the community for over 175 years and has played a significant role in the history and development of Covington and the surrounding region.

The church's history can be traced back to 1843, when a group of Episcopalians in Covington formed a parish and began holding services in a small wooden church on the corner of Pike and Sixth streets. The congregation quickly outgrew this space and in 1852, construction began on a new stone church on the same site.

The new church, designed in the Gothic Revival style by architect Robert Cary Long Jr., was completed in 1854 and was named Trinity Episcopal Church. The building featured a tall, spire-topped tower with pointed arches, stained glass windows, and intricate stone carvings.

Over the years, Trinity Episcopal Church continued to grow and thrive, becoming an important part of the community and a cornerstone of the Covington area. In the early 1900s, the church underwent a major renovation, with the addition of a new chapel, Sunday school rooms, and a parish house.

In the 1960s, the church faced the threat of demolition due to urban renewal plans, but was saved through the efforts of the community and the Kentucky Heritage Council. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1976.

Today, Trinity Episcopal Church remains an active and vibrant part of the Covington community, offering weekly worship services and a variety of outreach programs and activities. The church's historic building is also a popular destination for tourists and architectural enthusiasts, and continues to be a beloved and important landmark in the city.

The Durable Slate Company has provided service for Trinity Episcopal Church since 2017.  In 2018, our crews removed the existing roof pan and installed a 20 oz copper flat lock roof pan.

In addition to this, adjacent valleys were replaced, and the inside corner of the box gutter was re-built. In 2022, The Durable Slate Company provided a slate repair on the church’s Buckingham slate and replaced their existing cross. The cross was sent out to a metal fabricator and our crews installed the new copper cross.
