Gaithersburg, Maryland is a small city located in the northern part of the state, just 30 miles northwest of Washington, D.C. It is the third largest city in Montgomery County and has a population of over 68,000 people. It was founded in 1765 and named after its founder, Benjamin Gaither. Although the city grew slowly in its early years, it experienced rapid growth in the 20th century.
